Reference

The Otari PW-10 is a prewriter for DVD-R for General discs now prevailling rapidly. The PW-10 provides reliable disc handling by adopting the Otari original automatic disc loading mechanism and double-feed prevention mechanism. High productivity is obtained by providing the disc carrying mechanisms independly on the supply and eject sides to minimize drive idle time.

Features
  • Simultaneous Writing to up to 10 Discs: DVD drives are configured in an array of two units by five lines. Disc carrying is done for each line. Since prewriting can be started when all of the drives in a line are loaded with non-prewritten discs, drive idle time for disc exchanging is minimized to attain higher productivity.
  • Otari's Unique Disc Handling Technology: Based on technologies developed in the CDP-64 CD-R duplicator and PW-5 DVD-R PreWriter, a new automatic disc loading mechanism has been designed for the PW-10. Combined with the Otari original doublefeed prevention mechanism, sophisticated and reliable disc handling is realized.
  • High Productivity: Max. approx. 1,000 discs per hour
  • Spindle-Basis Disc Exchange: Discs are supplied and collected as stacks on spindles which are commonly used (contact Otari for more details about spindle shapes). By setting spare spindles on the supply and eject turntables, the PW-10 will switch spindles automatically to provide continuous operation. (About 1,000 discs can be stacked on the turntable. Each of the supply and eject turntables can mount up to six spindles.)
  • Closed Chassis Construction: To protect from dust during prewriting, the PW-10 is entirely enclosed. The drive dock section utilizes a floating construction to mechanically isolate it from the chassis.

The LCD monitor display is not supplied with the PW-10.

What is "Prewrite"?
In the production of DVD-R media (blank discs), a "Prewrite" process is necessary.
"Prewriting" is a process in which a very short length of predetermined data (control data) is written by laser near the innermost track of a blank DVD-R disc.
