Otari, Inc. releases the version 2.0 software for the DR-100 24/48-channel disk recorder. The version 2.0 software not only adds new features but also contains further improvements in maneuverability. The DR-100 with the latest software can provide a more confortable and stabler recording environment.

The DR-100 R & D team leader commented on the concept and advantages of the version 2.0 software as follows:
"After the release of the machine last year, we had many meetings on the direction of the next phase of the software. Based on feedback from our marketing department, we thought that we should focus on the theme of coexistence with DAW's first of all and for that task we concluded that we should establish file format compatibility to face the challenge of obtaining higher reliability as a dedicated recording machine. |

"Regarding file formats, considering file exchanging after punch-in/out or simple editing on the DR-100, we gained compatibility by supporting the importing and exporting of WAVE or BWF files. With its high performance CPU and high-speed hard disk drive, the DR-100 can attain high-speed processing: importing of one hour's worth of recording data in 48-kHz/24-bit format takes 45 seconds and exporting of that same amount of data requires only 30 seconds (both per track). In addition, by supporting file exchange via DVD-RAM discs and file transfer over a network, storage media compatibility is enhanced at the same time.

"Many studio users have been annoyed with the location of disc recorders that can be the source of fan noise. The DR-100 system overcame this problem by using standard Ethernet technology for communication with the remote control unit CB-179. With this version of the operating software, the system operation becomes stabler. For example, even if a network problem should occur during recording, the DR-100 system can continue stable operation, and you can shutdown the system safely at any time. We think we succeeded in providing both usefulness provided by networking technology, and high reliability.

"Our team have already been preparing for the release of the next version of the software which will bring the DR-100 system an even higher stage of perfection. We will improve editing functions and maneuverability and make full use of the advantage of having a dedicated remote control unit." |
